Early Years

All of our workshops are curriculum-linked and focus on developing practical, critical and creative thinking skills using our collections.

  • Subject Areas: History, Literacy, Science, RE, Art and Design, Computing

    Length of Session: 1 hour

    Delivery: On site

    Pupils will play their way in the centuries to learn more about the toys and games from the past handling different materials and  investigating old and new designs.  Learning has never been more fun!

  • Subject Areas: Literacy, Science, Geography

    Length of Session: 1/2 hour

    Delivery: On site

    Children will explore what a skeleton is and why animals have them. Through story time and singing children will learn about the human skeleton and they will see how animal skeletons have adapted differently due to their behaviours and habitats.

Cost

Workshops are free for schools within the Hastings Borough Council Area. Prices start are £2.00 per child for non-borough, language and independent schools which needs to reach a minimum (please get in touch for amounts). Our fees and charges are reviewed on annual basis by Hastings Borough Council.

Safeguarding

Our schools and groups visit risk assessment (PDF 300mb) is reviewed annually and updated as required. We follow Hastings Borough Council’s safeguarding policies and procedures. All museum staff have undergone Disclosure and Baring Service check.

Cancellations

On occasion bookings may need to be cancelled. We ask that you give us as much notice as possible if this happens. We will always try to reschedule your workshop in the first instance. If we are not able to then we will not charge you for the workshop and give you a refund if applicable. If we have to book your workshop, we will contact you by email or phone as far in advance as possible.

Evaluation

We would appreciate evaluation forms being completed for workshop so we can improve and refine the offer.
