'Our School': An HMAG local history project

Project Evaluation

'Our School' was evaluated using the museum standard of Inspiring Learning for All's generic learning outcomes to measure enjoyment, creativity and progression among participants.

Pupils were encouraged to consider four questions in relation to their individual experience of the project, the topic, working with outside specialists and using objects and archives from Hastings Museum and Art Gallery.

These are the results of their own evaluation, from the questionnaires they completed:

The pupils were also asked to write or draw what they liked best about the project:

"The thing I liked best about the project was seeing them when they were made and finished... that was fantastic"

Are you a teacher inspired by the work developed through Our School?  We would welcome the opportunity to help you to explore the resources used in this project for use in your own setting.

We are also starting to plan new projects for the next school year, including looking at cultural diversity (citizenship and literacy focus), Take One Picture: drawing inspiration from Turner's Fishmarket, Hastings (cross-curricular) and contemporary arts practice.
