In 2002 the Hastings Museum acquired 2 original typescripts of John Logie Baird's autobiography published in 1988 by the Royal Television Society as 'Sermons, Soap and Television'.

The typescripts have pencil annotations in a number of different hands, one of which appears to be the journalist James Spence who was writing a biography of Baird. The archive also includes a set of photographs captioned by Baird and a further handwritten chapter written after the inventor's death by his widow, Margaret.

Chapter 4 describes the inventor's arrival in Hastings and the course of his experiments in the town between 1923 and 1924.
