A contemporary & historical response to the magnificent spectacle of colonial India

In the Small Exhibitions Gallery
A display of 21 Indian Miniature paintings on loan from the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Art, Norwich.

Spanning a period of over two hundred year (1650-1850) the exhibition included studies of animals ranging from magnificent royal stallions to a sketch of an enraged elephant, illustrations to Hindu sacred text and Persian mystical poetry, portraits of rulers and pictures of court celebrations.

In the Large Exhibitions Gallery
This exhibition will showcase the work of a selection of contemporary artists who have been influenced by an element of cultural fusion, traditional motifs and legends, orientalism & collecting and/or Hindu/Muslim heritage.
